Choose Your Pediatrician
Your pediatrician's value to your family is more than diagnosing and treating your children's illnesses. Your pediatrician is the "captain of your child's health," prepared and equipped to manage your child's health-care needs — nutrition, immunization, growth, development, and more.
As your child grows, your pediatrician's value extends into other areas; helping with behavioral, emotional or family problems, for example, or preventing and dealing with drug problems.
Plan Ahead
For whatever reason you're looking for a pediatrician — you've made a recent move, there's a change in your insurance coverage, or you're expecting your first baby — you are wise not to wait until it's time for a checkup or until your child gets sick to make your decision.
Interview Your Doctor
Straub physicians welcome your questions and even invite you to come in for a free visit to ask them questions about their medical background and approach to pediatric care.
Consider These Straub Strengths
- Straub's ten pediatricians are conveniently located at five clinics across Oahu:
- Straub doctors are easy to reach after office hours or in an emergency — they can be paged through the Straub operator: (808)522-4000.
- Straub patients also have access to extended hours offered at some of our satellite clinics. This can be important for parents since treatment for children and teenagers in these urgent-care clinics is provided at a lower cost than the cost of emergency-room treatment at most hospitals. And keep in mind that ER visits usually are covered by insurance only if the condition to be treated could be considered an "emergency."
- Straub has a 24-hour appointment line, 522-4777 that allows you to call anytime to make appointments. This is really helpful when your child is sick in the evening and you want to get them in to see your pediatrician first thing in the morning.
- All Straub pediatricians are Board Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics, meaning that they have extensive experience, passed a rigorous test and have met higher professional qualifications.
- All Straub pediatricians are clinical faculty at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and are active in the Hawaii medical and non-medical community.
- All Straub pediatricians counsel their patients on the importance of preventing health problems. They believe that as soon children are old enough, they should take an active role in their own healthcare. Prevention of health care problems is stressed.
- Straub is a participating provider with HMSA, UHA, HMAA, Kaiser Added Choice and accepts more than 150 other health plans.
